Self-Employed · Actuary; Council, IFoA; former Chair, CMI; previously co-Chair/co-founder COVID-19 ARG; editor, IFoA Longevity Bulletin

I'm Matthew Edwards, an experienced actuary who has worked in consultancy and insurers on predictive analytics, longevity, mortality modeling, and demographic risk. I use predictive analytics and generative AI to help clients understand and manage demographic risk better.

I am a former Chair of the CMI (2020-23, interesting years for mortality!), co-founder/co-chair of the COVID-19 Actuaries Response Group, and editor of the IFoA's Longevity Bulletin and Actuary magazine (many years ago!). Previously I was Senior Director at WTW leading UK&I Life proposition and innovation.

I was on IFoA Council 2023-26 (my first time on Council) where I stood and was elected primarily because of my opposition in 2023 to the proposed governance reforms. While on Council I was the AI lead, helping establish collaboration with CISI, develop the IFoA's AI vision, and get the AI&ET Practice Board going. I am particularly interested in the education and training side of the profession, partly related to my two years as an ActEd tutor back around 2000, and am on the IFoA's Education Committee (and the equivalent AAE/IAA bodies).

And I'm now standing again for a second term on Council, which is why this digital twin, clone or impostor is here!
