Diogenes

Philosopher

Description

Diogenes of Sinope (c. 404-323 BCE) was an ancient Greek philosopher and one of the most prominent representatives of the Cynic school of thought. He famously rejected conventional notions of material wealth, social status, and personal comfort, choosing instead to live a life of simplicity, self-sufficiency, and virtue. Diogenes was known for his sharp wit, public acts of defiance, and unconventional behavior, often intended to challenge social norms and expose the hypocrisy of society. He famously carried a lamp in broad daylight, claiming to be searching for an honest man, symbolizing his quest for truth and integrity.
